What does this mean.. Revelation 2:18-29?

18"To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:

These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. 19I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. 20Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. 21I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. 22So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. 23I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. 24Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you): 25Only hold on to what you have until I come. 26To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations—

27'He will rule them with an iron scepter;

he will dash them to pieces like pottery'[a]— just as I have received authority from my Father. 28I will also give him the morning star. 29He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

What does this mean.. Revelation 2:18-29?
John is talking about several large churches (groups of churches in particular areas). The church in Thyatira has been doing some very good things, but there is one problem. There are some teachers who are teaching wrong things, so that the people are slipping back into their old pagan ways. The name of Jezebel is used to symbolize a person who is a leader who promotes a religion that is false, so that they have more power. Very often, this involves immoral actions and things that worship false gods. Someone in that church is leading people astray, so they are doing these things. The good people in that church must stay strong and not get sucked in by this false teaching.

This reminds me of the FLDS people in Texas who teach a wrong doctrine. The leaders just want power over everyone, so they teach people things that make them think they know the "deep secrets", but really, it's just so the leaders can get what they want.
Reply:Jesus (through John) addresses seven letters to the seven "churches". These were actual churches, but they can also be viewed as seven different types of church today. Each began correct, six left the truth or "their first love". These are warnings to stick with the "old truth" and to stop falling into various types of immorality and calling it some sort of worship...
Reply:In earlier translations of the Bible, the word woman is actually wife. The men were letting their wives speak up and rule in church. This is not allowed because women are easily deceived. It doesn't matter how "good" you are, if you are not obeying God, you need salvation and change. Keep looking to God and obey him.
Reply:i think it means that you have to do what the LORD asks of you.and if you simply do not want to then you will suffer the consequences.

shun the wrong and do the right!

2) Don't be a prophetess, i.e. don't imagine you know the future.
Reply:Jezebel tried very hard to kill the man of God called Elijah. Jezebel wanted the word of God stopped. Many Jezebels are in the world today trying to stop the Word of God from reaching the unbelieving.

In my lifetime, the Harry Potter books have increased Witchcraft and Wicca greatly.

God can put people in hell because God is the final judge of mankind. God is trying to tell us to not go the way of Jezebel. Stand firm in believing in His Word, the Holy Bible. We must be an overcomer because this world is increasing evil each day. Turn from evil and keep your young eyes on the Lord. Only Jesus will give us strength to make it through this world and overcome it.

You are a very smart 14 year old. You are following the Lord and we are all rejoicing in your young faith in God.
Reply:In a few words.....we need to stand firm, and try not to fall into temptation. Remain pure before God until Jesus return.

Many bad things will happen on this earth...we need to keep our eyes of Jesus as to how He wants us to walk. If we do good, we will be rewarded in heaven.

God sees all we think and do and He will judge us accordingly.

There is a lot in this chapter.....it would take a really long time to explain. Find a church that has a bible study. They can go into more details with you. God Bless You for searching Him.
Reply:Jesus firstly identifies himself and his authority, then he begins by giving commendation for the progress that the congregation has made, for it is some 63yrs since he was impaled, but he was also aware that there were some who were tolerating within the congregation a simmilar spirit to the woman jezebel,(you can read all about her at 1kings chapters 16 -18- 21) but these supporters were few and most were holding fast to the teachings and Jesus reminded them that if they remained faithfull to the end they would be co-rulers with him in his heavenly kingdom over the earth, vs27 a scepter was as sign of royal authority , an iron scepter highlighted the strength of his rulership and how it was strong enough to overthrow human governments or rulerships and dash them to pieces vs 28 stars are often used in the bible to describe many different things for eg in a dream joesphs 11 brothers were seen as stars genesis 37 vs's 9%26amp;10, angles are called morning stars job 38-7 , and Jesus himself is described as a bright morning star revelation 22-16, so when he promised to give them the morning star he evedently meant that they would be sharing with him in his heavenly position and glory

vs 29 he knew some wouldn't listen ,just as many today accumilate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled ( to tell them what they want to hear) so he was warning them to incline their ears to his counsel and not mans
Reply:Hello, Kathy:

The correct way to understand Revelation is to consider it as a chronology of church [the woman] and governments [beasts] history. Although the letters to the churches were actually on the Roman Highway, they denote the road the church would travel until Judgment Day (The last church is Laodicea, which means judging).

The church of Thyatira was during the historical period when Bibles were hidden from the masses, and preachers spoke in unknown languages to the peasants.

As you read Bible prophecy, you will see there was an era when Daniel warns: 8:12 "And an host [the saints] was given [him] against the daily [sacrifice] by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practiced, and prospered."

That was an appointed time in history denoted in the Bible as "times, times, and 1/2 time, 42 months, and 1260 days. Prophetically it is 1260 years, and identifies the timing of the Dark Ages.

God is just, and meets people where they are. Those who lived up to the light they had, God required nothing more of them.

But today, He has given us greater truths and expects us to live up to what the Bible says because it is published in many languages and translations. He also gives us a Bible code to identify the Abomination of Desolation that Jesus warned us of. See www.abiblecode.com It will help you see clearly.

Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua
