What do you think of my poem?

Sally fell off the earth,

Similar to drowning

Her arms struggled ruthlessly,

To find anything to hold on to.

Lifted from the grass,

She tried to pull herself back,

She screamed but nobody could hear.

Her fingertips brushed the top of the trees,

She shrieked but nobody could hear.

The clouds absorbed her,

She sobbed but nobody could hear.

The clouds granted a mist,

An unknown,

But then it broke,

And the crystal blue and blazing yellow silenced her,

The trees and grass became a distant memory,

Her mind went blank,

Thinking of nothing but the sky’s depth.

Black velvet enveloped her body,

The warmest she’d felt in a long time,

The stars glittered,

Wink wink wink,

The earth became a distant ball,

Moving away,

Slowly slowly.

She went deeper,

Deeper deeper deeper.

Sally fell off the earth,

She’s still falling.

----I know it's not for everyone and it's a bit odd...but what d'ya think?

What do you think of my poem?
Interesting would be the word for it.The idea really appealed to me,I think you could have elaborated on it even further,to make it clearer to the reader.I love the phrasing, the way you chose to use the words were very effective in striking up images in front of my eyes.I don't know much,I'm a 16-year old amateur and therefore,poorly-equipped for criticism--but I thought that the idea has a lot of potential and the poem has a fantastic surprise element to it.

Hope I was able to help:-)
Reply:I'm not sure exaclty what's it about, but it's beautiful! I love the imagery and the words you used. Besides being beautiful, it's sad. And kinda depressing, but still beautiful.
Reply:I think you have an interesting seed of an idea -- one that could be developed. However, you have a number of concepts that seem to make no sense or that conflict with words/phrases elsewhere in the poem. First is "fell off the earth" vs. "lifted from the grass." (and there are others)

Overall, it seems more like prose than poetry because it reads like a story and has few, if any, poetic devices (similes, metaphors, imagery, etc.)

Sorry if that isn't what you wanted to hear, but it IS an honest opinion.

§
Reply:that was really good- i love the feeling and word choice you put into it! :) keep up the good writing!
Reply:It's a oxymoron!

I love it.

A Sad Happiness.

Or

Ignorant Memory.

That last one isn't an oxymoron, but it seems to fit.

:]

I like the idea of falling of the earth.

But no so much that she doesn't remember.

I think you should of done more with the process, but I'm only a 14 year old fool.

So...

Yeah.
Reply:kind of odd, but good.
Reply:its kinda depressing but an over all good poem

Help improve my yugioh deck please?
Ok. I've looked over the deck. So far, I see a lot going on with this deck. All I can say at the moment is take the deck and lay it out on a table. After that decide on what strategy you want to use (i.e. how you want to win the game). After that, take all the cards that are detrimental to that strategy and put them together. All of the other cards go back into the box, binder, tin or where-ever you keep your cards. Those cards should then be replaced with cards that fit your desired strategy. Very possible, but will take you a moment. If you have any card shops in your area, the other players there would be happy to lend you some advice and assistance. Don't be shy (or embarrased). The worst thing that could happen is you'd get better at building decks. Good luck. And remember... just have fun and learn from your mishaps :)
Reply:Hey dude you need better traps and build a deck with one type. Like your have fire Build a fire deck. Buy Force of the Breaker packs they have awesome Pyro Cards. I know its no help but at least i didn't say it sucks.
Reply:sorry to tell u dis...but dis deck wont last a second with any other decks...it seems like u just took some okay cards and made a deck with it...

...anyways...when i first started playing duel monsters (ever since the 1st yugi structure deck)...i realized dat i cannot win with pure beat up deck alone...instead i relied to good ol' strategy...i put alot of good traps and flip effect monsters...cards dat will annoy my opponents...and stall da game...

after i got better cards i created da deck dat best suit me...i've built a high attack 4 star monster deck combined with destroyer magic and traps...

...da lesson...well...stick with well time strategies at first...try to make ur deck more broad base...to battle out all types of decks (believe me i've seen alot of different fighting styles...)...and well...have fun playing and making ur deck better...
Reply:more more trap cards, iv'e got about 15 trap cards, it screws their strategies, try to make the deck on a specific type or attribute, like dragons or spellcasters, it really helps all the cards tie in better and it works, iv'e got a spellcaster deck and iv'e duelled so many times against the same person using different decks and it hasn't lost yet.
Reply:What ever happened to classic cards like Curse of Dragon? What the heck is with these new "ultimate baseball kid" crap.... I swear my cards that I had when I used to play could own everyone because of combinations.

How to sneak out of a two story house?

i have a bedroom on the second story with a balcony outside. and i cant do out with front door or back. i have dogs. so i have to get off my blacony. does anyone know how to do this? i have grass in my backyard and thats it.

im just sneaking out to get awat from my house because my parents drive me crazy. i just need time alone and i love just walking around at night looking at the stars. im not going to get blazed or something

How to sneak out of a two story house?
hey there, i sneak out quite frequently i use a side door that i unlock long before i need it. i urge you to consider other options! however, if the balcony is the only option then jumping is probably better than any complex plan (like ropes and such). jumping sounds scary but what i do sometimes is get on the other side of the rail and either just jump Or you can grab the rail (or ground if it sticks out) and get your feet as close to the ground before letting go. if you lower yourself you might only need to fall a bit over a meter which is really quite easy!.... though remember you need to be able to get back in!!! doors and windows are probably the best bet if theres a screen you can normally just remove it and replace when you get back. Remember, be SAFE

If the light of all the galaxies in the cosmos reached us simultaneously how bright would the night sky be?

I mean, if light travelled instanteously rather than at the speed of light -- and we could see the whole universe as it exists right now simultaneously -- would the night sky appear as a solid blaze of stars and galaxies?

E.g. if we gaze 15 billion light years into deep space, there is nothing but blackness, because the stars did not exist 15 billion years ago, and light from that region would take that long to reach us. But in reality that distant reach of space should currently be filled with galaxies, even though we can never detect them.

If the light of all the galaxies in the cosmos reached us simultaneously how bright would the night sky be?
I AM NOT SURE WHERE YOU ARE GOING WITH THIS QUESTION...

LIGHT FROM ALL THE STARS IN ALL THE GALAXIES WITHIN THE UNIVERSE IS PRESENTLY COMING TO THE EARTH ALL THE TIME...

Simultaneously is a rather vague term when applied to light rays.

When objects emitting light rays are a LONG distance away, the intensity of the light rays is GREATLY diminished, but they are still coming to us all the time.

When you look out into deep space, you can see the light from "some stars." If you change the way you are looking at the stars by adding binoculars or a telescope, you can see "even more stars." If your telescope is a good one, you can see other galaxies which contain billions more stars but they are so far away that you can only see the light from the grouping, not from individual stars within those galaxies. Essentially the issue that you face is one of collecting enough of the light to see them. That is done using a large telescope with a big lens or a big mirror inside of it that collects the light and delivers it to your eye.

I have never found a situation where when I looked out into space I found nothing but blackness. Stars are out there "all around us." Certain parts of space are not as densely packed with stars as others are, but there are thousands and thousands of stars in even the most thinly populated regions.

I also think you are somewhat confused by the issue of distance and what is out there...The Universe does not end at 15 Billion Light Years distance. Scientists using "Radio Telescopes" have detected objects in deep space at distances of up to 40 Billion Light Years in all directions from Earth. That is indeed an impressive distance if you consider that one Light Year is roughly six trillion miles.
Reply:the light u see is a function of time... to alter the light element wud alter how time itself is perceived... alter the way light in space travels and you wud also alter the way it travels on earth. when u look at your mother all the visual wud scrunch to gether and u wud have no way of telling if your mother was standing near or far from u... because u receive all the perceptions at the same time. It wud kill you... because your brain if it received and processed the information... would be in sensory overload.
Reply:You wouldn't know.

YOU'D BE BLIND!
Reply:NO.

Yes, you could be correct (we don't really know) that certain areas are too far away to see stars yet. But on the other hand, lots of stars we DO see have since died out. Since entropy exists, I would guess less light rather than more.
Reply:It wouldn't be much brighter, assuming the 1/r^2 intensity law was still in effect.

There would be no red shift for faraway galaxies, since the Doppler effect wouldn't exits, so some galaxies whose light is removed from our visual range would become visible.
Reply:They would still be far away. Whether the light reaches us instantly or takes 15 million years, the same amount of light reaches us.
Reply:Presuming the Universe is infinite and static a straight line in any direction would intercept a star. Thus the sky would uniformly and brightly lit. And the earth would also be incredibly hot and irradiated by cosmic rays!

The fact that this is not so is called "Olber's Paradox" among other names. There have been a few explanations, some more convincing than others.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olber's_par...

http://www.mathpages.com/home/kmath141/k...
Reply:nothing would really change except our understanding of the universe we might even see another starin the sky(not) did you ever see a galaxy that is lets say 11 billion ly away

can you see it with your naked eye i know that i cant

you answer: the sky would not be brighter at all (if you look with the naked eye)

example:the light from the andromeda galaxy doesnt affect the brightness of things here on earth and its our closest cousin so think of a galaxy 15billion ly away:Nothing would happen

hope this helps

What is this song about?

What is the song "Read my Mind" by the Killers about?

like what is the message or what is it trying to describe.

thanks..

the lyrics are:

On the corner of main street

Just tryin' to keep it in line

You say you wanna move on and

You say I'm falling behind

Can you read my mind?

Can you read my mind?

I never really gave up on

Breakin' out of this two-star town

I got the green light

I got a little fight

I'm gonna turn this thing around

Can you read my mind?

Can you read my mind?

The good old days, the honest man;

The restless heart, the Promised Land

A subtle kiss that no one sees;

A broken wrist and a big trapeze

Oh well I don't mind, if you don't mind

'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine

Before you go, can you read my mind?

It’s funny how you just break down

Waitin' on some sign

I pull up to the front of your driveway

With magic soakin' my spine

Can you read my mind?

Can you read my mind?

The teenage queen, the loaded gun;

The drop dead dream, the Chosen One

A southern drawl, a world unseen;

A city wall and a trampoline

Oh well I don't mind, if you don't mind

'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine

Before you jump

Tell me what you find when you read my mind

Slippin’ in my faith until I fall

You never returned that call

Woman, open the door, don't let it sting

I wanna breathe that fire again

She said I don't mind, if you don't mind

'Cause I don't shine if you don't shine

Put your back on me

Put your back on me

Put your back on me

The stars are blazing like rebel diamonds cut out of the sun

Can you read my mind

What is this song about?
I believe it's about fighting for a woman, and the many battles that accompany it are symbolized with these words.

Flame Dancer...could shorten it to either one...

Jasmine...sorry, the cartoon popped in my head!
Reply:I like name Dancer, and I also like Cupid. Cupid

kinda matches because chestnut is kind of red and with a light mane...Yes I think Cupid might match. And its both a mares name and a gelding/stallions name as well.
Reply:Had one just like that and we called her Lady or even Lady girl....thought it as cute, and she was the BEST tempered horse. She never spooked. She was a BIG mare, but so gentle. The little 5yr old kids could ride her by themselves!! She is sooo awesome!! And her colts usually get the same temperament.
Reply:smudge

polo

sweetheart

flow
Reply:star or socks or beauty

blaze the list is endless

once you get to know her

a name will come to you

congratulations on your

new baby Arabs are

awesome.
Reply:Zara is a lovely name. I knew a beautiful grey mare by the same name. It's a good name.

Teach her to associate the name with 'herself' by feeding her a treat when she comes to it, or even looks your way when you call her by the name. Soon, she'll be coming to her name.
Reply:Hm.

Well my mare's name is Scarlett, she's a QH but is sorrel/chestnut also.

I knew this other horse named Teia ("tee-yuh"), she was a QH too but I think it sounds like an Arabian name..?

Yay for new horses!!
Reply:What about "Sugar"? She's your sweetheart, right?

Moxy if she has an attitude. Or Bella? It means beautiful.
Reply:cairo

purity

native dancer
Reply:lena

talia

are what i would pick from
Reply:Sahara

Sandunes

Mojave

Mirage

Oasis

Lava

Molten

Flaxen

Go with that theme, Zahara means Flowers in Arabic by the way. I think its kinda pretty.
Reply:zanzibar
Reply:The best thing I can tell you is pick a name that means something to you. Picking a random name is hard, so why don't you find one that actually has some significance to you.

Example: I just bought my third horse and his name is Giovanni, mainly because my Great Grandfather's name was Giovanni and he meant alot to me.

Just have fun with a name, don't make it as stressful.

One day......?

I'd love to travel and see some of the amazing places/buildings in this world. The Eiffel Tower, the Colliseum, the pyramids in Egypt..and some of those "untouched" places where there's no overpopulation..traffic..pollution etc...the type of places where the stars blaze bright at night.

Do you think it's possible for me?

What's your dream?

One day......?
OK pack ya bags I will be around in 1 hour watch out for the white stretch limo out front to take you to my Lear Jet , let's travel right now..LOL ♥
Reply:Well, you must have enough time to what you want! As for me, I am not an american and not living in America. However, My TV channel has The Ellen DeGeneres Show. I wish to watch that show live and my dream house is Ellen's house! I also wish to become a great writer and comic maker like for example stories like Geronimo Stilton and Captain Underpants.i wish to right for children aged 7-11.
Reply:of course it is possible. We all can achieve anything we want as long as we set our mind to it. I say, go for it and dont give up until you are satisfied.

My dream has always been to visit Rome =] I think it's going to happen one of these days

keep believing,

Linsay
Reply:I think anything is possible when you put your mind to it. For me, I've always wanted to travel of the Orient Express. I love trains and nice train ride in Europe would be absolutely breath-taking.
Reply:everything and anything is possible! Don't give up your dream. I wold love to host Good Morning America, and someday I will!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Same dream dear

Can we fly together !
Reply:anything is possible, just takes determination and a strong desire to fulfill ur dream.

my dream is about the same, i would love to travel around the world, experience new cultures, meet different ppl and see wut else this world has to offer.
Reply:I'd like to get a baby sitter sum time soon- lol

and I would like to afford to kids colleges, retire early- and travel while healthy enough to enjoy it.
Reply:Well, how could the stars blaze at the Eiffel Tower when it's in the middle of a 2 million person city? Ever heard of light pollution?
Reply:Of course it's possible, where there's a will, there's a way.

I must admit to having almost the same dream as you too. =]
Reply:okay this might sound weird even impossible but i wish i could go to the digiworl

from digimon
Reply:be a nba player.
Reply:i would love to go bungee jumping, rock climbing (on really huge rocks not the fake stuff), learn to snowboard, swim with animals in clean, clear water, and actually have at least one true, reliable, loving friend.

.....like any of thats gonna happen lol...........
Reply:to find love
Reply:sure. i dont really have 1.
Reply:my dream? to marry orlando bloom lol.

i would luv to go to hawaii...
Reply:Get a band together and be loved by all. We can be the Beatles of this generation.
Reply:visit eruope again
Reply:I'm in australia. Would love to be back home in seychelles. I think if you put your mind to it and put some money away every week, you will reach your goal of travelling the world. I've been travelling since I was very young, my mum has a travel bug, and believe me we aren't rich at all, she just always worked and saved. I'm 25 yrs old, married and with baby number 1 due next week, and next year I am travelling back home to the seychelles to show all the family the baby. My husband and I have already saved enough for it. I will one day travel to turkey and vietnam. Since I was small I always wanted to visit the war memorials there that some family members names are on. I don't really want to visit the populated areas of the world, I would rather experience the different parts of the continent that are not completely developed. Good luck and I do hope you get to travel as you desire.
Reply:Why shouldn't it be possible? Your life is what you make of it. You want to do it? Do it. Make it happen. Life is too short not to get as much as we can out of it.

One of my dreams is to go on an African Safari. Not one of the cheesy tour safaris. But a real one, up close and personal with the animals.
Reply:no, its not possible. you will never leave home and be unhappy your entire life
Reply:Basically the same as yours. I'm so envious of the people who somehow can afford to travel the world.
Reply:Just getting by
Reply:just to live content
Reply:alright.
Reply:Sounds wonderful....

My dream, my heart's desire is to see my children grow up into healthy, content, well adjusted individuals with lasting love in their lives ........

besides that-to live on the northern coast of Spain at least 1/2 of the year. ahhh....

Hows this poem ?

There is another special place

Which passes those mountain folk

Every night

in those cold Canadian rockies

weather spitting snow %26amp; cold

They get a rush of pleasure

Warm talk

Focus of faith

Sacred city

Eternal, redemption,

bursting pride

Lion hearted for emotional tides

As they watch those east bound shooting stars

Blaze across the starry sky

Water droplets from maples leaves

Shower down from their limbs

Resting upon the autumn ground

Hows this poem ?
so good.excellent see everybody is asking your age because everyone wants to know.you are superstar for poem.keep it up.god bless you
Reply:Is not poetic at all. The art of writing requires learning, and a lot of reading first.

Sorry
Reply:V.Good - (How old are you?).....for a first poem.

Don't get offended. The way poets do it is by using literary techniques. For example, metaphors, similies, oxymorons etc. This livens up a poem. Yours certainly is emotive, just lacks the other stuff

good luck
Reply:It's interesting. I think you have some good ideas going. It could be better if you took out the starry sky and put another descriptive word in the because you already have shooting stars so that's a bit redundant. I really like the rest.
Reply:good poem, but yeah, i agree with the guy above me

What time would you prefer to take a walk....?

Morning - as the sun rises, frost sparkling off all the plants and trees.

Noon - as the sun is blazing down and a soft breeze passes by

Dusk - as the sun sets, lighting up a firey sky

Night - Stars shine brightly in the sky and not a sound to be heard.

(all either alone or with a loved one)

What time would you prefer to take a walk....?
I'm usually very lazy and I'd rather be reading but the way you describe walking... looks like I might have a go. I will let you know in a week or so which I prefer. ;)
Reply:Dusk or Night, either one is great....with a loved one of course...there's nothing better than looking at the beautiful sky with someone you care about
Reply:Morning as the sun rises especially in Scotland near the sea or anywhere peaceful and tranquil really.

Reply:when the sun is blazing down and your on ya way to the pub
Reply:Any time. Wish I had have walked earlier the sky was lit like a blazing fire it was awesome. In the winter I like walking around the local lake its nice when part of the lake freezes over and the ground is white.
Reply:Night with a friend!
Reply:Night anytime , wish there was not a sound to be heard , I live in the wrong area for that (Glasgow) , but nights are better for a walk with the air cleaner - morning sounds nice , too .
Reply:Dusk or night.

Morning will do too.
Reply:early morning - best time of the day
Reply:i like walking in the early morning around the lake when its misty around 6am

Mysterious Stone Sculptures Showing Up at doorsteps!!!?

Just came across this on BBC online. These mysterious carvings come accompanied by riddles, which say "Twinkle, twinkle like a star does love blaze less from afar". So far 12 have shown up, some at the post office. Anyone heard of this?

Mysterious Stone Sculptures Showing Up at doorsteps!!!?
Anonymous art is fun. When I was an art student in the 1970s I made little 3 inch pancakes out of plaster, added a dozen mysterious symbols, painted them with a tint of green, and a black border. I then wrapped them in aluminum foil and distributed them to letter boxes in Los Angeles. No note, no name or phone number. I had fun just imagining the reactions of people. Too bad I didn't have a hidden camera. wonder if anyone kept them; I kept one.
Reply:nice door stops .lol
Reply:must be a physco run away from mental hospital
Reply:no. But I like the rhyming.

Mysterious Stone Head Carving Riddle?

I read a very well written report on mysterious sitings of stone carved faces being found up near yorkshire. One paragraph was as follows:

Each of the heads looks different but all feature the same carving - which appears to spell out the word "paradox" - and a note bearing the riddle: "Twinkle twinkle like a star does love blaze less from afar?"

What i want to know is, can anyone actually answer the riddle or hazard a guess?

Look forward to you answers!

Mysterious Stone Head Carving Riddle?
After some research...

onetooneproductions.com created the paradox-carving.co.uk site, they also have a site dreamingmethods.com and blog called Hypnagogia.

Mystery solved?!

"Twinkle twinkle" is the name of a magazine, what might

you do with a magazine when you've finished reading it, throw it in the bin perhaps?

"like a star" - again the Star is a newspaper which you

might throw away after reading.

"does love blaze less" - well, you can certainly have a fire in a bin.

"from afar" - the bin men come from afar each week to empty your bin...

Yes, of course, it's a Dust(y) Bin!!
Reply:I think its some form of publicity stunt and it will be interesting to see what its all about.
Reply:Cant think of anything...(im sure we will find out soon though), however, i would suggest that he is a struggling artist, who is in love, or maybe just cynical, after a bit of publicity.
Reply:How i wish someone would leave one of those stones in front of my garden , even in my garden would be fine. Lovely.
Reply:you nutter.
Reply:I read somewhere that the picture is an ancient voodoo symbol

lol what are they going to come up with next

and no, i haven't got a clue what the riddle means!
Reply:I live near where they are being found.

I WANT ONE!
Reply:Can't wait for someone to figure it out! Am i the only one who thinks it's kinda creepy?
Reply:http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...

i'd love to know too!
Reply:it's ET, wishing us a merry Christmas.

Is this one good enough to star ??

A fire started on some grasslands near a farm. The county fire department was called to put out the fire. The fire was more than the county fire department could handle. Someone suggested that a nearby volunteer group be called. Despite some doubt that the volunteer outfit would be of any assistance, the call was made.

The volunteers arrived in a dilapidated old fire truck. They rumbled straight towards the fire, drove right into the middle of the flames and stopped! The firemen jumped off the truck and frantically started spraying water in all directions. Soon they had snuffed out the center of the fire, breaking the blaze into two easily-controlled parts.

Watching all this, the farmer was so impressed with the volunteer fire department's work and was so grateful that his farm had been spared, that right there on the spot he presented the volunteers with a check for $1,000.

A local news reporter asked the volunteer fire captain what the department planned to do with the funds. "That ought to be obvious" he responded, wiping ashes off his coat. "The first thing we're gonna do is get the brakes fixed on our fire truck!"

Why was Dr. McCoy of "Star Trek" always so cranky?

"What in *blazes* was his problem??!!"

Why was Dr. McCoy of "Star Trek" always so cranky?
He had issues with Spock, which I think were more-or-less resolved by the end of Star Trek III (the movie). Yea, I wish the writers would get more into whyhe seemed constantly PO'ed. Maybe in the upcoming ST XI...?
Reply:He needed a drink of alcohol!
Reply:He was in the closet... and tired of hiding it...i swear....
Reply:Constipation
Reply:It was a writing style. His character's emotions was the opposite of Spock's. McCoy wasn't always cranky, but he was very emotional.
Reply:It was never really addressed, but I think he was truly afraid of space travel. We know he hated the transporter, and I think the whole concept of "going where no man has gone before" was a little more than he was prepared for when he joined Star Fleet.
Reply:He thought of himself as " just an old country doctor ", his own words. he was not comfortable with the technology " doing his job. He was happy when he had the opportunity to find cures for all the unknown conditions and deseases they encountered but the routine of being chief medical officer was not personally fufulling.

P.S. He only got laid twice.
Reply:Hollywood writers need to write shows that will appeal to a diverse set of people and backgrounds. Here's a futuristic sci-fi show about space travel in this huge space ship called the enterprise. In 1960's America and through the mid 1980's I noticed many people who had a tech phobia. They insisted that computers and hi-tech electronics were meant for the world of industry and not the American home.

As such, I think having an anti-tech crewman such as McCoy - "I'm just an old country doctor" - was meant to appeal to the older and more traditinonal Americans more interested in a good story than in the futuristic sci-fi angle.
Reply:Maybe he was just tired of all the trekies he encountered who acted like they didn't have a clue that it was just a show, not real life. hmm.
