What are your thoughts on these headlines, the second of which immediately follows the first?

You see the following blazing headline:

"TENSIONS ARISE AS US AND IRAN CLASH IN INTERNATIONAL WATERS"

immediately followed by:

"Who is Hollywood's most Likable Star?"

What are your thoughts? What does this say about North American and / or European society?

What are your thoughts on these headlines, the second of which immediately follows the first?
Well, the MOST I can say ~ and this is a shame ~ is that the important stuff came before the silly hollywood shiz. It seems a step up from some sources that would have put the celebrity shenanigans before *real* news.
Reply:I believe it says that Americans have an interest in more than just one topic. I'm surprised the second headline wasn't followed by, "Scientists Report Sasquatch Spotted In Northern Oregon Woods." And that followed by, "U.S. And China Headed For Trade Confrontation."
Reply:I think Americans need to wake up to what is really important.
Reply:It says to me that Bush is going to get us in another war based on lies before he leaves office.

I know I didn't answer the question, but I had to get that off my chest.

EDIT:

Ok, in answer to the question...something for everyone. They want to please the people who just read for entertainment, and those of a more serious mind. It might also be an attempt to distract the public from the possibility of another war.
Reply:It saids that only in America, this sort of things happens.
Reply:We're all living in a fantasy world. When are those Martians coming already?

"Will there be another race

To come along and take over for us?

Maybe martians could do

Better than we've done

We'll make great pets!"

Reply:we have a short attention span.
